Capitalism vs Marketing
“It is only by not paying one’s bills that one can hope to live in the memory of the commercial classes”. This is how O.Wilde ironically (or not?!) used to remark the power of capitalism and the very dark side of our lives: money. Actually how many times have you felt better after buying something? A pair of shoes, a pair of jeans, a shirt, a hoodie, a jacket, a sweet, a sandwich (OK those were easy!): we are all pushed in this modern society of ours to wish, desire, dream of items we do not really need but in order to feed the pyramid we all continuously stand for something we can’t afford at all.
After all this is the very basement of our modern system which is completely opposite of the communist model. As a fan of O.Wilde and lovely reader of his works I’d suggest a more modern and easy utopia he spoke about in one of his latest essays, more precisely in “The Soul Of Man Under Socialism”. Aside of that by criticizing our great environment I don’t mean I’m not falling as a victim myself: I’m used to feel this kind of short fake happiness in every commercial satisfaction I crash on. Still I want to scream this out loud in order to prove to the digital world I’m still sane and mentally healthy.
Being in Milan gave me the chance to post a lot and that’s something I really like. Anyway I’m seriously thinking about something different like starting my own line of shirts, and according to the modern revolution theory I’m not going to try to challenge the market or the thousands of self made brands everybody seems to push out every six months. It’s going to be more about myself and the way I’d like to dress… (well that sounded heavy: I mean I’m just talking about t-shirts right?!).
I’ll post more about it as soon as I’m going to be ready with some cool basic graphic ideas.
